Fabric markets, festival lots and family.

I started Gulaab Garden in the spring of 2025.
I’d been making clothes with my tailor in Mumbai since I was a kid. He’s made clothes for my family for as long as I can remember. I always loved playing with prints and colours. At some point I started looking for patchwork skirts to wear to Dead shows, couldn’t find one I actually liked and realised I could just make it myself.
So I made one. Wore it to the Sphere Dead & Co. show. Got so much love for it that people started asking me to make them one too. I made a few customs, fell in love with the process and decided to make a batch for the Grateful Dead 60th anniversary shows at Golden Gate Park. That was my first time vending. Watching people light up over something I made — that was the moment.
This is my ode to the Grateful Dead and to my Indian roots, and doing it alongside my mum and sister makes it even more special.

Three small things
one of one
Every piece is made once. No restocks. Nobody else is wearing this. Nobody else ever will.
rooted in craft
Centuries-old Indian printing techniques. Hand-carved wooden blocks. Natural dyes. Patterns pressed by hand, one block at a time. A single fabric can take days to print.
zero waste
Nothing gets wasted. We collect what tailor shops and production houses leave behind — fabric that would otherwise end up in a landfill. All of it gets a second life.
Caring for your skirt
Each skirt is made from 100% cotton and handmade patchwork. To keep it looking its best:
- Hand wash cold or machine wash on a gentle/delicate cycle
- Use mild detergent — no bleach
- Hang dry or lay flat to dry
- Iron on low heat or steam
Returns & exchanges
Because every piece is one of one, we can’t do traditional exchanges. But we want you to love what you get:
- Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery, unworn and in original condition
- Please reach out via our contact page to start a return
- Return shipping is on the buyer
- Refunds are processed within 5 business days of receiving the item
